WHY DOES HEALTHY EATING WORK?
You might think I’m a bit crazy that I could heal my IBS with food alone, and you’re right… it wasn’t just food.
Naturally healing my gut came from managing a lot more in my life than just food. But guess what… it all BEGAN with healthy eating.
I honestly find in my experience as a holistic health coach that the more someone approaches a healthy diet that’s deeply rooted in healthy eating habits, the more they become interested in other aspects of their life… and that’s exactly what happened to me!
I started out making healthier choices for snacks, breakfast, lunch, then dinner because I wanted to lose weight. But when I began learning more about nutrition and health, I eventually found this entire area of “wellness” that was focused so much more on creating a LIFESTYLE, not following a “diet”.
THE KEY IS RESPECTING YOUR BODY
That means I went from pinning recipes on Pinterest to reading about mindfulness on blogs and listening to nutrition-based podcasts. All of a sudden my drive changed from eating healthy (which honestly led me down a rabbit hole of disordered eating habits) to focusing on my sleep, enjoying exercise, and creating powerful routines that re-positioned my life in a direction of health – not just changing my body.
And guess what…
The more I understood the idea of eating for a healthy lifestyle instead of a diet, the more I was able to listen to my own body, respect what it needed, and heal my IBS.
Oh yeah, and I did it all without medications, laxatives, supplements, or treatments of any kind. That valuable insight is what I’m going to be sharing with you today — and in the guide below 🙂
NATURALLY HEAL YOUR GUT WITH HEALTHY EATING
Here’s the deal. IBS is way more complicated than we can imagine, which is why there is no treatment and why there are 25 million people affected by it in the US right now. There’s obviously a huge disconnect between the problem and solution. So Bree – how the heck did you manage to naturally heal your gut and your IBS?!
When people hear that I healed my IBS, I always get asked for the one thing that helped me. But of course, there’s not just one thing.
The solution isn’t one simple answer… it’s lots of things!
We get frustrated because we think doing “one thing” will solve all our problems. Why? We’re used to the idea of taking medicine – we take a magic pill and everything just works. But naturally healing your gut isn’t like that. Gut health is super tricky, which is why you’re here reading this trying to figure out what will work for YOU. Chances are you’ve tried a bunch of “one-things” already and you can’t seem to find an answer.
That’s why you have to use synergy to your advantage.
Synergy is the idea that 2 things are a lot more powerful when they work together.
Instead of each thing being powerful on its own, it’s extra powerful when it’s used WITH something else. It’s basically like someone asking me if I want sprinkles on my ice cream. Me: YES. I mean really, sprinkles on their own? Ehh. Ice cream on its own? Pretty good, but it could be better. But when you combine the ice cream WITH sprinkles? They work a whole lot better when they’re together! 😉
If you don’t have the same love affair with ice cream and sprinkles as I do, then here’s another example using a car. Gas is a super powerful fuel and your car is a super powerful machine. A car without gas can still have some useful benefits… You can sleep in it, store stuff in it, and jump inside when it’s raining so you don’t get wet. So, it doesn’t help you very much to have a car and have no gas. But when you put gas in a car, it turns into an exponentially more amazing tool.
USE THE POWER OF SYNERGY TO NATURALLY HEAL YOUR GUT
Bree, how does this help my digestion? How does this apply to IBS??? Don’t worry, it’ll all make sense in a minute…
The trick is that we can’t do just one thing to heal our IBS and expect it to solve ALL of our digestive problems. For example, the digestive enzymes you’re taking might not work unless you start eliminating food that your gut is intolerant to; The foods that give you indigestion in the first place. That’s why we have to consider all likely causes of your IBS from your lifestyle to your diet.
So, why do one thing when you can stack EVERYTHING in your favor? Exactly.
See, the thing is we have to do lots of things so we can get BETTER results. Trust me, the more you can do to heal your IBS, the greater chance you have to naturally heal your gut.
It’s likely that you won’t know which of the things you’re doing has/have the biggest impact until you stick to a routine or healing protocol… and then start taking things out. So does this mean you should take every supplement imaginable for IBS? No, absolutely not. Instead, I want you to focus on your entire lifestyle as a cause of your IBS. It’s not just your food, but your food definitely plays a huge role.

CREATE YOUR GUT HEALING PROTOCOL
I created a protocol for myself long before I thought I would ever be sharing it. The thing is – you have to be consistent to know what works… and what doesn’t.
So, how do you know if it works? Well, your trip to the bathroom will be able to tell you that 😉
But you also can’t get discouraged. Just because one thing didn’t work, doesn’t mean you won’t find answers. Trust me, I went through a LOT to get here. But I did it! And the light is absolutely at the end of the tunnel 🙂 Sometimes all you need is to flip the light switch that’s right next to you.
One of my favorite things I talk about in the guide is the EPIC power of a morning routine. Why? Because 99% of the time that’s when people create consistent bathroom habits. Our bodies are made to go to the bathroom in the morning – so if you can help it do that, I can’t recommend it enough!
Every morning without fail I sat my butt in my chair, with my coffee/tea/whatever until I relaxed. I waited until I felt the urge to go. Sometimes it didn’t happen.. but then in combination with all of my other tips I was able to create a CONSISTENT bathroom routine. Something I’d never been able to do my whole life!
