I shared this post on Instagram about my experience with obsessing over food. I get asked all the time how to “turn your brain off” around food, so I wanted to answer it. The truth is: I needed to give myself unconditional permission to eat, and that’s what actually worked.
If you can’t stop obsessively thinking about food 🙄 until you ALLOW YOURSELF UNCONDITIONAL PERMISSION TO EAT, your brain will always be searching for the permission and “right” conditions to eat‼️
If thinking about eating sends you into a spiral of searching for why it’s not okay to eat THAT 👉🏼 it’s because you’ve lived in a world of excessive rules and restriction that have trained your brain to hyper-focus on what you’re eating.
HOW TO “TURN YOUR BRAIN OFF” AROUND FOOD
And NOW THAT YOU WANT TO TURN THAT PART OF YOUR BRAIN OFF, you have to work hard to tell your brain that it’s always safe to eat whatever and whenever you want to 🥰
I won’t lie, it’s not super easy and it takes PRACTICE and PATIENCE over time for you to get that restrictive back seat driver voice in your head to get quiet enough so you can hear YOURSELF think 😌👏🏼💯
You have to keep breaking the restrictions you’ve set for yourself little by little to PROVE that you can stop listening to your diet rules and everything will still be okay!!! 🙌🏼
When you do THAT, consistently over and over again, you will weaken that restrictive ed voice in the back of your head until YOUR OWN VOICE IS SO MUCH LOUDER.
